Although street art consisting of painted murals, graffiti tags and stickers have long been a part of Miami’s history, there haven’t been many opportunities to showcase work in a controlled environment. The GO! Sticker Show at Wynwood Walls this past February was the first show of its kind here to exclusively exhibit adhesive art. Open submissions from all over the world filled the space in frames and in large containers where folks could buy stickers per ounce.
Local curator Vivian Azalia with the help of UsVstheBuff put together the first Stück Sticker Show consisting of local, national and international graffiti artists. Regarding the shows impact Vivian said, “We want to showcase our love for the uniqueness of stickers by curating a show that promotes the best qualities of the adhesive movement from designed stickers to handstyles.”
Visitors were met with a huge array of adhesive art (over 4,000 stickers) covering 2 pillars and 4 walls from custom postal service labels to colorful mass-produced slaps.
Work from Coinslot, Take your Pills, Muertita, Buddha Funk, 2Searock, Wormis, Aholsniffsflue, members of MSG graffiti crew, and Whut213 were among the many showcased. Miami legends Freek and Kedsroc from the DAM graffiti crew added some excitement with their old school aesthetic. Synapse from NY sent in a few custom drawings of people he’s seen riding the subway.
Guests were invited to create their own stickers at a designated tag table. There was a great sense of community that night and we’ll be hosting another Stück show May 27th.
