Eye love faces by Karin de Oliveira

By Jeffrey Bustos

I love meeting people
I love the color red
I love traveling
-I was born like that

Karin de Oliveira is an artist because she loves. Her new collection of the HANGAR “Red Vision” will have your heart beat a little faster because she has devoted her love into her photographs. They speak to our humanity. Karin has shared her love with those she photographed and can tell you a specific story about each piece, a shared experience.

Her “Red Vision” collection conveys the rasa, the essence, of the person’s soul and beauty by using saturated red to isolate their eyes. The red emphasizes their eyes with the contrast extraction of the black eyebrows and eyelashes. In addition, she does a lovely job in aesthetically using perceptual grouping and binding with the faces by camouflaging them with the red background, yet contrasting with the shadows. She uses her art as a metaphor of the soul by emphasizing the eyes which are reflecting an image.
